Session Variables not Timing Out

hi all,

i'm on cf 8 , have been many months. time last week session variables on many of sites have stopped timing out. noticeable people don't have re-authenticate of pw protected sections of sites. i've checked cfadministrator , default session timeout 20 mintues, max timeout being 1 day. individual websites have session timeouts set 2-4 hours.

i switched j2ee session management, , fixed problem caused few others. ideas else try?
