laura czajkowski: global jam time again
ubuntu global jam here , better last year we’ve few new editions. global jam takes place friday 2nd october sunday 4th october, instead of focusing on bugs year it’s going encompass more. translations, documentation, packaging it. i’ve heard of teams spring cleaning wiki’s , getting rid of obsolete pages or pages typos.
- ubuntu bug jam wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ubuntuglobaljam
- bugs: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/jams/bugs
- translations: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/jams/translations
- packaging: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/jams/packaging
bug jam , why should it? world-wide online , face-to-face event people fix ubuntu bugs – idea many people online fixing bugs, having great time doing so, , putting brick in wall free software. not great opportunity ubuntu, other ubuntu fans make difference together, either via loco team, lug, other free software group, or getting people in house/apartment fix bugs , have great time.
how do it, how take part ? need place meet, decent internet connection, you’re going online of day! either bring laptops, or live cd’s can work on ubuntu, , great people share work. find best place not net connection , people involved university/college. it’s helpful many of them have language departments if looking work on translations.
when have venue sorted, next? need sit down couple of weeks before hand , work out areas , team work on. not have work on of areas! work on ones can. if it’s first jam session, perhaps working on bugs , bug triaging start, next translations , take there. suggestion have talks day, have explain how log launchpad, how find bugs, triage them , work on them. try , cater everyone, encourage people involved. remember people may never have done before , may nervous doing it.
