Cost of Deploying Flex 2.0 Apps
don't me wrong, think flex 2.0 amazing app development tool date , extremely eager build , deploy applications it. question revolves around cost of doing this.
i'm working on range of internet , intranet applicationsin cf , love put flex on front-end. concern intranet applications. largely small office apps , cost purchase mysql , coldfusion costs more able market application for. remoting work cf developer's edition? adobe allow commercial apps run on developers version?
basically, can't around purchasing mysql , cost work, if have buy standard version of cf every application sell, it's not worth it.
what alternatives? http services? adobe suggests it's slower. noticeable? slowness death application, web or not.

you're not allowed deploy apps cf developer edition. can't anyway cause developer edition accepts requests 2 external ip addresses.
while remoting great (and i'm big fan), it's not entirely necessary. web , http services decent alternatives. while soap calls (webservices) slower amf (remoting), isn't noticeable if you've got small moderate sized messages. soap industry standard, after all, has worked many people.
if must go remoting, might want consider flex data services. there free version of fds limits number of connections, should fine small office apps. may not meet needs, though, since it's not full application server cf.
