raspberry.local from LAN not working - Raspberry Pi Forums

hi,

want reach raspberry pi without typing 192.168.1.x in pc/imac.

installed:

sudo apt-get install libnss-mdns
sudo apt-get install avahi-daemon

in raspberry pi terminal, can ping raspberrypi.local, when go imac, cannot find it. ( ping or ssh )

if search services enabled on raspberry pi:

avrdude: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0000 0x0c != 0x62
