Thread: How to relinquish DHCP lease on shutdown?

hi!

have ubuntu 9.04 , wlan connection (wpa2).

how can make relinquish allocated address on shutdown (or @ time manually) ?

thanks,
david

just got ask this: why want relinquish lease manually begin with? whole point of dhcp assigning large enough range of addresses it, don't have worry them running out when add more devices network. , if want specific addresses assigned specific devices, it's better use static addresses.

answer question: either through sudo dhclient -r release lease or ifdown <interface_logical_name> put interface down.
