check ubuntu hardware compatibility wiki. 95% of time, there no need driver linux kernel support directly... way windows keyboards? linux attempts (and job at) hardware.

install many versions of windows want first, , them playing each other.

then install ubuntu.

speaking, whatever operating system install last 1 in charge of master boot record (mbr).

ubuntu see windows(s) , play nice, adding it/them option(s) on boot menu.

windows see linux , "lol gtfo" , ignore (or worse).

so, windows set how want it... install ubuntu.

ideally, complex setup should doing partitions manually.

best tools create/resize/modify windows partition(s) windows tools.

best tools create/resize/modify linux partition(s) whatever tools feel using.

while setting , configuring windows(s) install(s), make 2gb partition , leave unused in addition whatever want primary ubuntu partition.

when time install ubuntu , in manual partition setup phase: designate 2gb partition 'linux-swap'.

then, have 2 options:
1. toss of linux on 1 partition '/' mount point , bootable flag.
2. make 15gb '/' partition bootable flag, , use rest partition /home 'mount point'. /home = 'my documents , settings'. there great reasons (google it), dont have if dont like. didn't on first ubuntu install, wont break not it, , plenty of people dont.

if have ever looked @ graphical partition editor, linux-specific 1 part of ubuntu install make sense when see it. use ext4 filesystem.
