Thread: Intel X-25 M SSD performance under Ubuntu 9.04?

hi,
i'm reading great things intel x25-m 34nm ssd performance,
wondering how turns real world performance in ubuntu 9.04.

have experience using ssd in jaunty?

use machine software development using eclipse , firefox,
reading lots of small files, not writing much.

own thinkpad t61, has 1.5gb/s sata limitation,
read issue during transfer of large files.

see noticeable performance increase using ssd?

experience or advice appreciated.
thanks.

i have installed x25-m gen2. in inexpensive hp laptop, booting ubuntu 9.04 , windows 7 ultimate.

average read speeds hover around 210mb/sec, according hd tune 3.50, average writes @ 72mb/sec.

compare, 160gb hitachi travelstar replaced read @ paltry 45mb/sec. can expect reads of approximately 150mb/sec (the limit of sata 1.5 gbit/s).

in mind, hard drive weakest link in systems. quality ssd intel, corsair, or ocz eliminate choke point.
