it's old resizing bug have posted request fixed on over compiz forum. thjought guys n' gals read little investigation found.
have done experimenting narrow down possibilities of problem - one.
far can tell problem compiz , ubuntu version 9.04 follows;
installed ubuntu 8.10 onto blank laptop (dell studio 1537 ati hd 3450 graphics card 256 mb video ram, laptop has 2.53 ghz dual core chip , 4gb ram, plenty of power).
ubuntu 8.10 install went without hitch. installed envyng-qt take care of installing ati driver suggested. went well. invoked 'extra' visual effects , tested x using sky rocket screensaver ran smoothly. installed compiz , set settings manager preferred options. tested opening, minimizing, resizing , maximizing of several differnt program windows without faults showing. environment ran smoothly. installed prefered window dressing package - ubuntu se. again ran without fault.
cleared laptop , installed ubuntu 9.04 , installed graphics card driver before , set 'extra' visual settings. compiz installed default , did notice straightaway there lag on resizing window.
note: appear bigger window longer lag!!!
uninstalled compiz parts , rebooted. ran several programs performing window resizing before. ran smoothly , fast. reinstalled compiz , settings manager , hey presto resizing lag back. leaves me 2 choices; run ubuntu or without compiz. @ moment running because find working effects pleasing. makes me feel using futuristic computing environment. resizing bug having - well... bug!! hope enjoyed reading report.
